Well That Should Take Care of It

Obama has finally released his long form birth certificate, verifying what all the rest of the available evidence points to: Obama is a natural-born US Citizen, and there's really no story here. Thus Fox News' headline story is, "Obama Birth Certificate Moved to More Secure Location Months Ago". Notice the really crude sleight-of-hand here: They don't debunk the legitimacy of the certificate, they just raise the question, "Why would Hawai'i officials move his birth certificate?" Usually, conspiracy theories present questions like these as open-ended, offering no answer, as if the lack of evidence means their theory must be right. Here, however, the article provides the very logical, simple, and boring answer:
Fukino, who left office in December, said that during her term as health director, Obama's birth certificate was moved from a file vault, where bound books containing vital records line the shelves in handwritten, leather-bound ledgers, in colors chosen over the course of decades -- and placed inside the vault's five-foot-tall, grey, metal combination and key lock safe that holds money and other valuables.
"After the 2008 elections, the Department of Health received a significant number of requests for a copy of President Obama's original birth registration by individuals who believe that the president is not a U.S. citizen," Fukino explained. "To assure the safety of the record, the bound volume was removed from the file vault and placed into a fireproof safe with limited access."
Had they left it where it was, the narrative would be, "How can we trust this hasn't been tampered with? They should've removed it and placed it into a vault!" Lacking any story, once again Fox decides to just make some shit up. Anything to avoid having to admit there's no story here, and to continue fanning the flames of this ridiculous conspiracy theory.
